Let’s just get this out of the way: Adam is terrifying. Koukain Flain is still #1 in the power rankings at 3-1, and the numbers are getting stupid:
- 153.68 PPG — best in the league
- 614.72 total points — best in the league
- 161.96 in Week 2
- 174.90 in Week 3
- 162.34 in Week 4
That’s three straight weeks over 160 points. And now he gets Chris. So… I wonder who will win that game? At this point, I’m not sure if the question is “Is Adam good?” I think the question might be “Will Adam lose again?”
But, whatever. Who cares about Adam? There’s a new hot team rising up the ranks this week! ME! Odysseus and His Crew just beat the undefeated Captain Morgan, scoring 148.14, and has now climbed from the 6th spot in the rankings to being ranked #3!!!
Suck it, stupid league!
Wait… what’s that? I’ve got NATHAN this week? And Ken Walker is on bye… oh.
Hey let’s get my mind off that and shift our lens to Joey’s team. Did you know that Grand Admiral Jawn has scored 577 points this year? That’s the second highest points scored in the league! Surely he’s got a winning record, yeah? Wait. What? Oh!
Poor Joey is 1-3 this year. Fantasy Football is weird.
Joey gets the Champ this upcoming week who probably wants to get things back on track after losing his first game of the season. Currently their matchup is a 50/50 toss up!
If there’s an opposite to Joey right now it’s the biggest Power Rankings winner this week, Austin! Show Me Your TDs went from the 9th spot to the 4th spot and he’s one of the teams sitting at 3-1 going into Week Five. But he’s only averaging 119 points a game. That’s around league average which means everyone’s favorite cabinet goblin is over performing his numbers. Again, Fantasy Football is weird.
I want to shout out Travis this week. Dude started the year 0-2 and has won two straight to get back to .500 Fantasy Football. The past two weeks he’s averaging 155 points a week! So the turn around isn’t a fluke! He also has the highest roster score of any team in the league which means that Fantasy Pros rates his roster as the #1 in the league. I’m starting to wonder if maybe Travis is a sleeping giant in this league. (No Bryant, YOURE the giant! Look at your FAT belly!…. there, made the joke for you)
The flip side of the “2-2 life” is Murk who only scored 92 points this week. That’s CHRIS territory. My brother in the Lord, you gotta figure that out!
Speaking of Chris. There are three types of bad teams:
- Teams that are trying.
- Whatever Kyle is doing.
- And teams that are Chris.
Jensen and Murkve are trying. Kyle is Kyle. Chris… Chris is Chris. Who is also Chord. Who is also Cat. Who is also not playing very good fantasy football.
Loser’s Punishment
And that matters, because this year we want to play around with the idea of BRINGING BACK THE LOSERS PUNISHMENT. This is something we had a few years ago that we moved away from after WING GATE (he tried, guys). But last summer we said that we’d be interested in seeing if there was a path forward to us bringing this back. So, here’s my proposal:
Let’s come up with THREE options that we can vote on for the League Punishment. This is something that the League Loser would have to do or suffer before the start of the next year. A couple of things here:
1. The League Loser is defined as the person who comes in last place in our league. This is determined first by record, but then by points scored. So weekly points do matter, here. It’s basically whoever would get the first pick next year.
2. I (and I think most of us) would prefer punishments that are SIMPLE, COST EFFECTIVE, and FUN. I’d would rather it not be something that is dangerous, difficult to do, or something that is just miserable without any potential for the league loser to ham it up and us have fun with it. I think a GREAT example of this is the year Adam did wings. He obviously didn’t enjoy it. But he did make it fun for all of us. That’s the kind of attitude we need to have about this. I think we went wrong in two ways last time we tried this:
- We treated the league punishment as if something the league loser OWED us and if they didn’t do it exactly as we desired, they were invalid and wrong. I understand us wanting to uphold standards when it comes to league punishments, but we gotta be more about the heart of a thing than we are the specific words of it. Effort matters and honoring it does as well.
- If you are the league loser, you gotta be okay owning it and making it fun for the rest of us. What a waste to be given an opportunity to bring your friends some joy only to be a dick about it. You lost. Own it.
If we’re just gonna be entitled or dicks about this, I don’t really want to go down this road again. But if we can commit to making this fun and picking something that the loser can put some energy into, I think it can benefit us as a league.
3. In an effort to be a little bit more ‘on top’ of things and transparent, I am open to this NOT starting this year but rather for the 2027 League Year. I can understand if some people have made decisions so far this year without the fear of a Losers Punishment in their equation. My pushback on that is that we’re supposed to be PLAYING Fantasy Football. If you’re already not trying to win every week, what are you doing?
Okay, I think that’s it. Later this week I’ll drop a Google Form to help us collect ideas and to see if this is even something we want to do this year.
Also the Power Rankings are below.
Also also… welcome to BYE WEEKS
