The Hoodie Rises.
Well, Week 3 happened.
And if you thought we were starting to figure out who the good teams are, congratulations: Nah.
Week Three produced chaos, betrayal, five-spot jumps, six-spot falls, an undefeated team that’s an underdog, and the rise of the most feared garment known to Fool, The Hoodie.
As the temperatures fall and we entered into HOODIE AND SHORTS season, a new number 1 team has arisen: ADAM!!!!
Adam is the new #1 ranked team on the Power Rankings! Adam jumped from #4 to #1 after dropping an absolutely insane 174.90 points in Week 3. (and winning the bonus week)
That gives him:
- 2-1 record
- 150.8 points per game
- 452.38 total points
- The highest single-game score of the season
- Three straight weeks of improvement: 115.52 → 161.96 → 174.90
The hoodie has arrived and we should all be on notice. If there a championship in his future?
Speaking of the Champ, Captain Morgan is 3-0.
Three wins. Zero losses. Still undefeated. And yet, this week, the #3 ranked team is a 38% underdog to…ME!Yes. This ME! The one writing this right now. Odysseus and His Crew is sitting at 1-2, ranked #6, and is projected to beat Captain Morgan 133.85–117.09 as of today. This is particularly funny because the power rankings basically admit that Scott’s undefeated record is being helped by a friendly schedule. We can only play the person in front of us, and I now stand in the way of Scott’s team going 4-0!
Speaking of schedules, the opposite side of that story is Joey. Grand Admiral Jawn is 1-2. That normally isn’t something you’d brag about. Except Joey is ranked #2.
Why? Because Joey is absolutely piling up points. His season: 167.00 → 144.66 → 158.60 That’s 156.8 points per game, easily the highest average in the league. The problem is that somehow he’s only won one game. Joey has scored 470.26 points through three weeks. For perspective, that’s more than 156 points per week. And he’s still sitting at 1-2. This week he gets Austin’s Show Me Your TDs, which is 2-1 but averaging only 116.1 points per game. Can Joey finally turn those points into wins??
Someone who has done a good job of turning things around is Travis. He started the year being ranked #10 and is walking into week 4 ranked #5. After opening the season 0-2, Team Travvizaddi dropped 166.62 points in Week 3 and picked up his first win. More importantly, he rolled out a complete line up this week opposed to last week. Travis gets Kyle this week, who is fake tanking. So, should be fun.
Two big losers in the Power Rankings this week. Nathan, who fell from 1st place to 4th. And Chris who fell from 6th to 12th. Both teams had tragic weeks in terms of scoring points and keeping players healthy. Nathan was soundly defeated by Murk (who is quietly 2-1and looking like a potential factor this year). Chris’s team is looking like one of Jensen’s teams in any other year. Can Nathan regain his previous spot? Can Chris just get through this week?
And then there’s Jensen. 0-3. Rip and sip, baby. Rip and sip…
Two updates for the league.
- We voted on it and next year (2027 league year) we will not be playing with Keepers. Adjust your strategy to account.
- Last summer we said we wanted to play around with the idea of having a loser’s punishment again. Next week, the League Office will open up a form to submit ideas for this. I wanted to give everyone a heads up to allow for time for brainstorming / research and also to ask that as you submit ideas please submit ideas that are appropriate, saleable and fun. We’re not looking to get anyone hurt, cost someone a ton of money, or do something that is more cringe than it is fun.
