Surprise, it’s a Joey!!
Look. Most of the time you create an algorithm to mathematically determine the Power Rankings of your long running fantasy football league and you tend to know what it’s gonna do. But every once in a while, the thing you created says “Hey… wanna know what would be reeeeaaaallllyyyy funny?” and we get a Joey at the top of the Power Rankings.
This has everything to do with Joey’s schedule, which has been kinda brutal. He’s 4-4 but has the highest PPG in the league at 140 and has also scored 154 points more than the league average at this point in the year. That tells me that he’s been pretty unlucky with his matchups and has been getting other teams on their best weeks.
He’s also got 60 overall wins (this is stat that gets calculated by putting your team up against every other team in the league every week and records how many wins you would have gotten vs the league). For reference, Kyle has 26 overall wins and Chris has 7. Nathan has 57, Adam has 56.
Joey also has the 3rd ranked team in roster score according to Fantasy Pros.
So, is it a little weird that a team at .500 sits atop of the Power Rankings now that Adam has lost another game? Yeah. But the math backs it up. I’m sure Joey will accept this news with grace and poise.
Speaking of Adam, the HOODIE has been struck down. His punishment? Being ranked #2. So… yeah, still a good team.
The #1 record in the league belongs to Austin this week who is sitting at 7-1. He is currently the KING of the You’d Cream Division but cant crack the top two in the Power Rankings because of his lower PPG. This feels a little like the inverse of the Joey situation as Austin only has 48 overall wins which tells us that his schedule has been a little bit more generous than some other teams in the league. Of course, now that I’ve typed these words I’m sure he’ll be super chill about his matchup against me this week…. Right? RIGHT????
Nathan defeated Adam this week and is the other team at 6-2 besides him. Right behind him are Murkve and Corey with 5-3 records. Scott is the other 4-4 team in the league aside from Joey and everyone else is below .500 heading into week 9.
That’s right… week NINE. Only SIX weeks left in the regular season. Which means that it’s time to see who would make the playoffs if the season ended today:
Boogie Division: Murkve! He would get in over Corey because he won their head to head earlier this year.
Suck it Bryant Division: Nathan! He would get in because he has a victory over Adam.
You’d Cream Division: Austin!
MDF Division: ME! (Hey, this division really sucks)
Wildcard Spots: Adam and Corey!
What’s really funny here is that if the playoffs started today, the number one ranked team in the Power Rankings WOULDN’T GET IN! Joey would miss the playoffs because he only has four wins!!!!
Fantasy football is a clown game for clowns.
Anyway, the rest of the Power Rankings are below. And before you ask, NO. I don’t know why the pictures aren’t working. I think maybe it has something to do with the site their hosted on having an outage or something. I dunno. I’m not the internet.
