Happy FoolsGiving

The holidays are upon us, friends. The time for turkey is near. The time for pretending your families political takes are interesting is also near.

With this being a holiday week, please consider this your official notice that the League Office will be closed. There will be no Tuesday Power Rankings because even Commissioners deserve stuffing. Instead, expect a rankings drop sometime before kickoff next Sunday. Or whenever I digest. Whichever comes first.

The Trade Deadline is also this week. Once Monday night’s games end, trades are locked until the offseason. Justin and Joey, consider this your last call to torment the group chat.

Before we close shop for the week, I want to take a moment to say how genuinely thankful I am for all of you idiots.

Gratitude is a big part of my life. Every night I pause to think of three things I’m thankful for and thank God for them. That list often includes family, a great meal, or something I accomplished.

But honestly, just as often, one of YOU makes the list. A kind word. A dumb joke. Something you shared that made my world bigger for a second.

Some highlights:

  • I’m grateful Scott shares his family so graciously with mine.
  • I’m thankful I met Adam’s kids, and survived with my life.
  • I’m grateful for Jensen’s meats. One day I will experience a full Meat Night.
  • I’m grateful Justin shares his insane work stories with us. Dude has met a lot of cool people.
  • I’m grateful Corey calls me once a month. It’s always the best call I get all month, and also the most chaotic.
  • I’m grateful Kory returned to the Land of the Fool, if only for a short pilgrimage.
  • I’m grateful Joey is quick to reach out whenever I need help with my home, excel, or proper Star Wars canon.
  • I’m grateful Austin invited me to his wedding. It would have been really funny if he didn’t.
  • I’m grateful Murk is low drama and trades with honesty. A rare jewel in a land of scammers.
  • I’m grateful Chris shares recipes with me. He’s gonna get out of hell one day.
  • I’m grateful for Kyle’s journey this year and the way that it’s inspired me.
I’m grateful Nathan and I speak fluent Straw Hat Pirate.

This week can be complicated. We love our families… but families are the bane of fools. So in-between the cringe political takes, dry turkey, and seven helpings of pie, maybe take a second each day to think of two or three things you’re thankful for. It helps. It really does.

Thankful for you all —
The Commish
