PRW13: One Game Left

Joey is at the top of the Power Rankings. But who cares? The Playoffs are only one week away.

First let’s talk about who’s out.

At 4-9, Chris is out. The Cat Chord (Sea) Cucumber scored just 99 points per game this year, so that makes sense.

At 6-7, Nathan and Jensen are also out. Joey has 8 wins and a wildcard spot isn’t up for grabs in that division because Kory and Adam both have 8 wins as well. Nathan has a positive overall record against the league (72-71) and scored 103 points per game this year, but DESTROYING Adam this week in an incredible embarrassing way that no one could ever miss wasn’t enough to get him in. Jensen has the same overall record against the league and 2 more points scored per week on average, but Joey really took that division by the reigns and never let go.

At 6-7, I’m out. Which is a bummer. It was always going to be a long shot for me starting the year 0-5. But, for a moment I really thought I might be able to do it. I have the 4th highest points per game in the league and my roster score has consistently been in the top 5. But, sometimes in fantasy football as in life, you don’t get what you deserve. You fools don’t have to worry about this being the year where I win the Troph-deez.

At 4-9, Austin is out. His team is bad. Dude has the worst PPG in the league (96) and an overall against the league record of 54-89. Maybe next year, friend.

That leaves seven people still alive for six playoff spots. In the North, Kory and Corey are both guaranteed to make the playoffs. The only question is, who will win the division and potentially get a first round bye. If Corey wins his game against Scott this week, he’ll win the division and the #1 seed in the Playoffs. He’ll have 10 wins. If he loses his game and Kory wins his (against the other Morgan ironically enough), they will both have 9 wins and Kory will win the division and the #1 by virtue of the head-to-head tie break.

In the South, Joey is gonna make the playoffs. The only question is, at what seed? He plays Justin this week and if he wins he’ll have 9 wins. But both the C(K)or(e)ys have the head-to-head tie break on him. So he’s not wrestling the #1 seed anyway from either of them if they all end up tied the 9 wins. If him and Adam both win, he’ll own the tiebreak over Adam. But, his game this week against Justin will determine who wins that tiebreak. So, while #1 seed is probably out of the question for Joey, the #2 seed is well within the realm of possibility for the team Chris gave the Trophdeez to.

In the East, both Justin and Adam sit at 8 wins. Adam owns the tiebreak over Justin. So if they tie, Adam will win the division and a potential first round bye depending on if Joey wins his game against Justin. If Justin wins and Adam loses, he would potentially have the #2 seed in the playoffs. Lots to play for, here.

Finally, let’s talk about the west. The west is insane. Every year, there’s a division that sucks. But someone has to go the playoffs. At 6-7, Kyle is currently in the pole position to win this division and be that team. But… his brother Scott is sitting at 5-8 and with one game left can actually make the playoffs if Kyle loses and he wins. If they both tie at 6-7, the second tie break is head-to-head… which they actually split this year with a win a piece because they play in the same division. The second tie break, as we decided on this off season, is total points scored. Kyle has scored 1278.42 points this year. Scott has scored 1278.82. Scott needs to win his game and score .40 more points than Kyle this week to make the playoffs. All Kyle needs to do is score .40 more points than Scott to get in. It’s gonna be a close one here and a very petty part of me hopes that Scott wins but only scores .39 more points than Kyle. That’d be amazing.

And, with that the final round of the regular season is upon us. This time next week the playoffs will begin. Good luck to everyone still involved. GG, friends.
