PRW11: Return of the Jawn

Way back in week two our friend Joey was the #1 ranked player in the Power Rankings. Unfortunately for him, there was a seven week Hale Storm that forced him into hiding. However, after braving both the lightning and rain, the Jawn has returned and Joey is the #1 ranked player once again!!! Congrats to him for claiming this honor and also winning $20 this week for having the highest score! Will he be able to ride this momentum into a playoff run?

Speaking of the Playoffs, let’s take a look at how the bracket is shaping up so far.

The North:
In the North, it’s a battle of the C(K)or(e)ys. Both of them have records of 7-4, but Kory holds the tie break over Corey by virtue of beating him twice this year. If the season ended right now, both would make the Playoffs but Kory Hale would get a first round bye and the #2 seed. Chris, at 4-7, is basically done. Mathematically there is a way for him to still get in if he wins out and a couple of others lose the rest of their games. But that feels super unlikely. RIP Cat Chord. Send him to the wall to take the black!

The South:
In the South the #1 ranked player is standing atop the division. Right now, Joey would win the division and claim the only playoff spot from it. At 5-6, Nathan isn’t eliminated. In fact, he owns the tiebreak over Joey by virtue of defeating him twice already this year. With 3 games left, Nathan could steal the playoff spot from Joey if things break in his direction. Joey may sit the Iron Throne right now, but in the Game of Thrones you either win or you miss the playoffs.

The West:
Every year there’s always one Divisions that is… well… a little special. This year it’s the West. Kyle is currently winning this division with a record of 6-5. But, at 4-7 and 3-8 respectively, Scott and Austin aren’t actually out of it. The tie breaks aren’t even settled. Austin and Kyle split their yearly series and Scott and Kyle play their second game this week. If Kyle wins that, he’ll hold the tie break over Scott. But if he loses it, there’s a chance this comes down to second tie break. Which is now total points scored. It’d be sweet sweet justice if Scott loses out because of this tie break. Almost like the bite of the great sword Ice delivering swift justice from the King of the North.

The East:
It’s a tale of two teams in the East and neither of them are me. Adam at 8-3 and Justin at 7-4 would make the playoffs right now if the season ended today. Adam would secure the #1 seed actually. At 4-7 I’m basically out. Fate has thrown me from the great tower and there’s little hope for my team to ever climb again. Unless the raven opens my third eye… Nah I’m done. Baring some insane collapse, Adam and Justin are good.

And that’s it. That’s the state of things. As always, things are tight in this league. No one is technically eliminated from the playoffs yet. There’s still all to play for.
