The 2022 Pre-Season Power Rankings

Cat’s and Gentleman, it’s game time.

The trip is over. The draft has happened. It’s (kinda almost) time for some Fantasy Football. But, before we agonize over which WR to start at flex and which no-name running back is stealing goal-line carries from the guy I drafted in the first round, it’s time for the Pre-Season Power Rankings.

We’re doing things a little bit differently this year. Don’t fret, The Algorithm isn’t going anywhere. In fact, they’re back and better than ever. (That’s right, The Algorithm identifies as non-binary. Deal with it.) They’ve been upgraded with some new tools to help us really get to the bottom of who should have bragging right every week including (but not limited to) a new way to weigh wins and losses, better consistency ranks, and even some graphs!

However, they’ve decided that with no actual football having been played, there just isn’t enough data to justify accurate Pre-Season Power Rankings. The Algorithm will debut after week one. I bet Kory and Corey can’t wait.

Because The Algorithm is still warming up, I thought we’d take a look at how the draft went and where each team stands compared to the other in a good old-fashioned TIER LIST! The below tier list is based on Pre-Season Draft Rankings as provided by Fantasy Pros.

Kory has a Pre-Season roster score of 100 and I have a 99. Fantasy Pros really likes our rosters coming out of the draft. Are we looking at a repeat of last year?

Kyle, Corey, and Justin sit in the low 90s. Those are very respectable numbers. I was surprised to see both Kyle and Corey in this range after what happened with the QBs in the draft. Does Kyle make the playoffs this year?

Joey, Nathan, and Jensen have scores in the 80s. With good in-season management, these teams can expect to be in the playoff race.

Chris, Scott, and Austin all rank in the 70s. Not great. But this game isn’t played in theory, it’s played on the field (and mostly on our phones).

Finally, Adam has a Pre-Season roster score of 68. We’ll see if that Julio pick works out for you, friend.

Ten days left until the season, friends. If you don’t like your ranking, there’s good news: things change quickly in the NFL. If you like your ranking, there’s bad news: things change quickly in the NFL. Fantasy Football is about adaption, flexibility, and maybe even a little bit of luck. Who’s to say how this tier list could look in a few weeks?

Football is coming.
