Someone needs to repent for whatever ancient evil they or their family committed because the evil that is Waiver Issues will NOT stop haunting us.
Here’s the deal: Sleeper has proven itself incompatible with the custom waiver system we’ve had for a few years. Sometimes it seems to work. Other times it does not. I can’t find a rhyme or reason for when it works and when it doesn’t. The only thing worse than something that doesn’t work is something that works some of the time but you’ll never be able to predicate when that time is.
So, we need to adjust. Here’s what we’re going to do:
To state it simply, we’re going to do what 80% of every other Fantasy Football Leagued do and just set it to standard reverse order waivers. This means that your waiver priority each week will be set according to your standing and not the points you scored the previous week. I believe that the standing order will be based on record and then points scored as a tie break. Here’s Sleeper’s official description of how this form of waivers works:
“The waiver priority is reset every week based on the standings. Lower-placed teams in the current standings will get the highest waiver priority at the beginning of each NFL week.”
I believe that this means that the waiver order is locked all week. This is standard and is the way most Fantasy Football Leagues operate. What we’ve been doing is highly irregular.
We’ll talk about this in the offseason. But until then, this is how the rest of the year is going to go. Let me know if you have any questions.
