2021 League Owners Meeting Recap

We held the 2021 League Owners meeting on Sunday Night, July 18th. Below are the areas we talked about and the changes we agreed to make.

1.Draft Date: Sunday night August 29th at 8pm.
We will draft on Sunday night, August 29th at 8PM EST. Add it to your calendars yourselves (Austin)

We randomly drafted this years divisions. As a reminder, divisional games matter in this league. (Joey)

3.Roster Size: Keep one IR spot
We agreed to keep on IR slot this year due to the ever present threat of COVID-19. (It’s real, Adam).

4.Keepers:
We are playing ONE Keeper this year. Your keeper selection is due by August 22nd on Sleeper. Starting in 2022 we will play 2 keepers. We’ll lock that in through the 2023 League Year. As a reminder, your keeper costs you a pick in the round ahead of where he was drafted last year. A player selected in the first round can not be selected as a keeper. As such, here are this years “Unkeepables”:

5.Draft Pick Trading: Bryant to look up info.
More info to come later. I need to look into how Sleeper handled Draft pick trading and provide some options to the League. My goal is to have options to vote on by August 1st and for us to make a decision by August 5th.

5.Waiver Wire:
We’re keeping the Waiver Wire as it is until we get to the playoffs. Teams in the Playoffs will have priority over those not in the playoffs. 

6. Loser’s Punishment:
We are keeping it the same. The Loser has to eat 30 of the hottest wings at BDUBS or their equivalent at someplace local to the loser. 

7.Year X:
To celebrate TEN YEARS of Fantasy Football, we’re putting together a League Trip for next August. The tentative plan is August 26th – 28th 2022 in Atlanta. Adam and Kyle Morgan are the Trip Planning Committee. 

8.Adding a week.
Because the NFL will play 18 weeks this year, we will add a week to our League Regular season. This means a couple of changes:

• Playoffs will start on Week 15 and run Weeks 15 – 17. 
• Every team will play their division teams twice and every other team once except for one out of division team which will be played twice to accommodate for the extra week. 
• To make budget for the additional weekly payout, we’ll be raising the league dues to $55. This will allow the payouts to look like this:

Total League Budget of $660:

• $280 in Weekly Payouts ($20×14)
• $60 bonus week
• $185 for League Champion
• $55 for League Runners Up
• $10 for new Name Plate
• $10 to ship Trophdeez
• $60 for Loser’s Punishment. 

9. Three League Pillars:
Finally, we went over the three league pillars which are:

1. Play the game.
2. Pay the dues. (The league office will open for payments on August 1st. Instructions for how to pay will be sent out by then)
3. Be a part of the Community.

Alright, that’s it friends. Good meeting. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be putting together many of these items for us and setting the league up for play this year. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions as I set up the league. Your question might help us catch a thing that could be a big deal this year.
