Team Owners,
Below are the items we discussed and the decisions we came to in regard to this year’s (2020) league owners meeting.
- 2020 Draft Date: September 6th at 8PM EST
- 2020 Divisions:
- North: Kyle Murkve, Scott, Austin
- South: Joey, Bryant, Nathan
- East: Kyle Morgan, Justin, Adam
- West: Corey, Chord, Jensen
- Keepers: Going forward, your keeper will no longer automatically cost you a first-round pick. They will now cost you a pick in the round you drafted (or kept them) in the year previous MINUS 1. For example, if you drafted the player you want to keep in the fourth-round last year, he will cost you a THIRD-ROUND pick to keep the next year. If you keep that same player another year, he now costs a SECOND-ROUND pick. After you spend a first-round pick to keep a player, that player cannot be kept by you again and must be relinquished the following year. The only exception is this upcoming year (2020). This year keepers will cost a pick in whatever round you drafted them in last year.
- This year’s Keeper Selection deadline will be on August 30th.
- Platform: We have made the decision to switch from ESPN Fantasy Football to SLEEPER Fantasy Football. We made this decision primarily to help accommodate our new Keeper format but also because ESPN hasn’t improved their platform in years. It was time for a change.
- The League will be migrated over NO LATER than August 10th.
- Finances: We have determined that in order to make budget this year, we need to increase league dues by $5. The 2020 league dues will be $50 payable via CASH APP after August 15th. (Later than normal because we want to allow time for the NFL to come up with a plan for COVID-19)
- COVID-19 Plan: Finally, we acknowledge that COVID-19 doesn’t care that we want to play Fantasy Football. There’s a very real chance that the NFL season will be impacted in significant ways this year. To help prepare us for this, we made two decisions in regard to COVID-19:
- ONE ADDITIONAL BENCH SPOT. For this year only we will be adding one additional bench spot to our league. This is to help accommodate for the unpredictable nature of COVID-19.
- The 7+ Rule. At any time during this year a majority vote (7 or more of us) will end the ‘financial year.’ This means that any money still in the budget at that time will be split twelve ways and refunded. This could happen as soon as week one. We’re okay playing Fantasy Football in whatever strange way we have to this year to have fun, we’re just not willing to risk money on it.
That’s it. Those are the big decisions we made going into the 2020 season.
One additional note, soon we will begin the process of deciding our 2020 Loser’s Punishment. So start thinking about awful things to make one of your friends do.
